History
Wathen-Castanos Hybrid Homes, Inc. is more than a development company. It is the passion of a family. For three generations, Wathen-Castanos Hybrid Homes, Inc. has created home developments that have established beautiful communities and enhanced the quality of life for all Valley residents.
The Wathen-Castanos, Inc. legacy began with Grandfather Wathen’s love for remodeling homes in the 1930s. Sons Spalding, Ron, Jack and Richard Sr. inherited Grandfather’s love and formed the successful Wathen Brothers development company in the 1950s. For more than 70 years, the Wathen name has represented excellence in residential development in the Central San Joaquin Valley.
Today, cousins Kevin J. Castanos and Richard G. Wathen Jr., along with partner, Bob Mazmanian, lead the family business into the next century – maintaining a tradition of excellence, while revitalizing how homes are built in the Valley. Learning the art and science of home building from adolescence, both Kevin and Richard have an ingrained passion to build homes that are solid, elegant and that embrace the lifestyles of their owners.
