To the degree that it's possible, Wathen-Castanos, Inc. makes efficient use of building materials and recycles what's left over. In 2008, our construction activity produced 1,576 tons of waste material, including lumber, drywall, stucco, cardboard and metal. Over 73% was recycled instead of sent to the landfill. Maximizing our recycling is just one more way Wathen-Castanos, Inc. is leading the way in green building practices.
The secret ingredient in our new carpet is… old carpet. Our supplier has developed an innovative process to reclaim the nylon from used carpet. This reduces the amount of energy required to produce the new carpet and the amount of refuse that goes to the landfill. The process can be repeated indefinitely, and the product quality is absolutely top notch.
